DWAYNE JOHNSON IS AN AMERICAN ACTOR & WRESTLER

Dwayne Johnson[1] (born May 2, 1972)[2] is an American actor, former professional wrestler, and comedian, also known by his former ring name The Rock and occasionally credited as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.[3] Johnson was a collegiate football player, and in 1991, he was part of the University of Miami's national championship team. He later played for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League, but was cut two months into the season.[4] This led to his decision to become a professional wrestler, like his grandfather, Peter Maivia and his father Rocky Johnson.

Johnson made his WWF debut as Rocky Maivia, which combined his father and grandfather's ring names; Johnson was initially reluctant to the idea, but was persuaded to go ahead with the name by Vince McMahon and Jim Ross.[6][15] In addition to taking on the nickname "The Blue Chipper," the WWF played up his connection to his father and grandfather, calling him the company's first third-generation wrestler.[3]

Johnson, who was first portrayed as a clean-cut face character (fan favorite), was pushed heavily from the start despite his lack of in-ring experience. He debuted at Survivor Series in November 1996 and was the sole survivor,[16] and he won the WWF Intercontinental Championship from Hunter Hearst Helmsley on Raw on February 13, 1997, after only three months in the company.[17][18] Fans, however, quickly grew sick of the one-dimensional good guy character, thanks in part to the increasing popularity of Stone Cold Steve Austin.[11] As a result, a regular occurrence during Johnson's matches was the fans' angry chants of "Die Rocky Die!" and "Rocky Sucks!"

JAGJIT SINGH IS ON OF THE MOST FAMOUS GHAZAL SINGERS

Jagjit Singh is one of the most famous Ghazal singers of the modern times. In an era where the current generation is headed towards rock and hip hop music, it is refreshing to see them cherish Jagjit Singh ghazals as well. Born in Ganganagar located in Rajasthan on 8th February, 1941, the name Jagjit means the one who triumphs over the world. His father Sardar Amar Singh Dhiman was a Government official and his mother Sardarni Bachchan Kaur had a religious family background. He has four sisters and two brothers and is fondly addressed as "Jeet" by his family. Check out this biography of Jagjit Singh, which captures his intriguing life history.

Jagjit Singh studied at Khalsa High School located in Ganganagar. After completing his matriculation, he took up science. He graduated in Arts from DAV College located in Jalandhar and has a post graduate degree in history from Kurukshetra University, Haryana. His father wanted him to join the Indian Administrative Services. But when he saw his son achieving accolades in the world of music, he was more than happy. Jagjit learnt classical music under Pundit Chaganlal Sharma and achieved expertise in classical forms like Khayal, Thumri and Dhrupad.

He moved to Bombay in the year 1965 searching for better luck in the field of music. He got assignments that were limited to performing at wedding functions and singing jingles for advertisements. Around 1970's, the world of ghazals was dominated by renowned names like Noor Jehan, Malika Pukhraj, Begum Akhtar, Talat Mahmood and Mehdi Hassan. Jagjit Singh made the efforts to come with his first album titled "The Unforgettables", which was a collection of semi-classical Indian music. The different melody and freshness in Jagjit's voice appealed to all and he was recognized by the industry. Though he was scorned by many critics, it did not deter him from carving a nice for himself. The album sold numerous copies and was a hit with listeners.

BIG FIGHT ON SETS OF SALMAN KHAN'S FILM

A major fight took place on the sets of the Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Dabangg in Wai on Sunday night. Co-producer Manoj Chaturvedi, who was in high spirits, punched the chief assistant director Himanshu Mehra as the former’s son Shantanu (an AD on the film) complained of being mistreated by the unit. Himanshu Mehra was injured because of which he had to be given three stitches on his forehead. He is currently recuperating in a hospital.

Salman Khan has fired Manoj Chaturvedi’s son Shantanu because of whom the fight took place. Producer Arbaaz Khan has called for a meeting today with Manoj, who is also the production controller on the sets. An eyewitness says, “The incident took place at Jannat, a night club in Wai, where the entire crew was partying after pack-up. Manoj Chaturvedi’s son Shantanu is the junior assistant director on the sets and is known for his snobbish behaviour. Shantanu is always sidelined and nobody likes interacting with him due to his arrogant attitude. He complained to his dad about being ignored by the film unit. That’s when a drunken Manoj started abusing the entire unit.”

HOLLYWOOD ACTORS IN SUCH BLOCKBUSTERS AS AN GLADIATOR

Russel crowe

Born Russell Ira Crowe in Wellington, New Zealand, on April 7, 1964, at age four Crowe moved with his family to Australia, There he frequently went to work with his parents catering film shoots - and on the set is where the young Crowe was said to have eventually caught the acting bug.

Today recognized as one of the leading Hollywood actors in such blockbusters as A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator, Crowe began his professional career in such Australian-produced films as The Crossing in 1990, following up with a critically praised performance in Proof in 1991.

The following year, worldwide attention was given to what is now recognized as an early trademark, "Crowe intense" performance as a skinhead in Romper Stomper.

It was actress Sharon Stone who later championed Crowe's move to Hollywood, and who appeared opposite the rising star in The Quick and The Dead in 1995, which eventually lead to his breakthrough performance in L.A. Confidential two years later and, finally, an Oscar nominated performance for The Insider in 1999.

WORLD TOP CLASS PLAYER IN INTERNATIONAL CRICKET CAREER

Wasim Akram (Punjabi, Urdu: وسیم اکرم; born 3 June 1966 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan) is a former Pakistani left arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman in cricket, who represented the Pakistan national cricket team in Test cricket and One Day International matches.

Akram is regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in cricket. He holds the world record for most wickets in List A cricket with 881 and is second only to Sri Lankan off-spin bowler, Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of One Day International wickets with 502. He is considered to be one of the founders and perhaps the finest exponent of reverse swing bowling.[1][2][3] The revolutionary nature of reverse swing initially resulted in accusations of ball tampering, although reverse swing has now been accepted as a legitimate feature of the game. Akram's later career was also tarnished with accusations of match fixing, although these remain unproven.

International career

Akram made his Test cricket debut for Pakistan against New Zealand in 1985 and in only his second Test match, he achieved a 10 wicket haul. Like a few other Pakistani cricketers of this period, he was identified at club level and bypassed first-class domestic competition, entering international cricket directly. A few weeks prior to his selection into the Pakistan team, he was an unknown club cricketer who had failed to even make it to his college team. He came to the trials at Qaddafi Stadium Lahore, but for the first two days he did not get a chance to bowl. On the third day he got the chance and the observers around him saw the potential and was spotted by Javed Miandad and as a result of his insisting was it that Akram was given an opportunity to play for Pakistan. Later that season he opened the bowling attack with Imran Khan, who became his teacher at the World Championship of Cricket in Australia.

Records

  • In his Test career, Akram took 414 wickets in 104 matches, a Pakistani record, at an average of 23.62 and scored 2,898 runs, at an average of 22.64.[13]
  • In One Day Internationals, Akram took 502 wickets in 356 appearances, at an average of 23.52 and scored 3,717 runs, at an average of 16.52.[2]
  • Akram was the first bowler in international cricket to take more than 400 wickets in both forms of the game and only Muttiah Muralitharan has since achieved this.[2][13]
  • Akram also held the record for the most wickets in Cricket World Cups — a total of 55 in 38 matches. Australia's Glenn McGrath broke the record during the 2007 World Cup, ending with a final tally of 71 from 39 matches.[14] On passing Wasim's record, McGrath said, "Wasim Akram, to me, is one of the greatest bowlers of all time. Left-armer, swung it both ways with the new ball and he was so dangerous with the old ball. To go past him is something I will always remember. Probably the other side of the coin is that if you play long enough, you're going to break records here and there."[15]
  • Playing in a Test series against the West Indies at Lahore in 1990-1991, he became one of only six players to have taken four wickets in an over during a Test match. In Akram's case, the feat was not part of a hat-trick, the third ball of the series being a dropped catch, which allowed a single.[18][19]
  • Akram has also achieved the highest score by a number eight batsman in Test cricket — 257 not out from 363 balls against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura. The innings contained 12 sixes which is also a world record for Test cricket.[20][21]
  • He also has the third highest number of Man of the Match awards in Test cricket, seventeen.[22]
  • He has scored the record number of runs in One Day International matches by a player who has never managed a one day hundred. His highest score was 86

I think every person should follow his/her dream and try and make it possible to create an ability to achieve it backed by its practicality." He has also indicated that he is more interested in the process of filmmaking than in the end result: "For me, the process is more important, more joyful. I would like to have my entire concentration on the process right from the first step." When asked about his role model, he stated that, "Gandhiji is one person who inspires me!.

Rahat Fateh A li Khan

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s biography
Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (b. 1974) is a Pakistani musician, primarily a singer of Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis. He is the nephew of the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. In addition to Qawwali, he also performs ghazals and other light music. He has toured extensively and performed in India, Pakistan and all around the world.

Traditionally, Qawwali has been a family business. Rahat's family has an unbroken tradition of performing Qawwali for more than 600 years. Rahat took over the family Qawwali party after Nusrat's death in 1997. (Nusrat had formally nominated Rahat as his successor during his lifetime).

He was born in 1974 in Faisalabad, Pakistan into a family of traditional musicians. The son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat was trained rigorously by his uncle Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in the art of classical music and Qawwali, as Nusrat had no son of his own. An extremely gifted child, he started his musical training at a very early age. In an interview, his father Farrukh has spoken of how Rahat would be receiving musical instruction from Nusrat with a pacifier in his mouth.

Under the tutelage of his uncle, his first public performance was at the age of eleven. He can be seen in numerous videos alongside his father and uncle in recordings from the 1980s and 1990s. His voice is high-pitched, unlike the huskier tenor voice of Nusrat. After two decades of captivating performances for international audiences, Rahat is a star in his own right.

In a subordinate role to his uncle Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (working in collaboration with Eddie Vedder), Rahat contributed to the soundtrack of the 1995 Hollywood film Dead Man Walking. In 2002, he worked on the soundtrack of Four Feathers in collaboration with the American composer of orchestral and film music, James Horner. In the same year he partnered with The Derek Trucks Band on the song "Makki Madni" in the album Joyful Noise. More recently, his vocals were featured on the soundtrack of Mel Gibson's Apocalypto.

Though Rahat is excited to play with Western musicians and lay down tracks in state-of-the-art studios, he is ultimately most concerned with the art of Qawwali and its message. As he states, "Qawwali music is not only music, it is a message. It was created by Sufis, and when we compose and practice this music, it stays forever. Other music comes and goes, but Qawwali never goes. Once you start listening, it goes straight to your soul, goes to your spirit, and you become more human. I feel that this music is my duty, in order to spread the message of Sufism. My future is that one day I will fulfill the desire of Nusrat to give this message to the world". In another interview, Rahat fondly mentioned how his own children have begun to sing, though he hasn't taught them yet. When asked how they have learnt to sing, his children pointed at Nusrat's picture.

angelina-14.jpgJessica Simpson is known to be one of the most eligible women in Hollywood.

The ‘officially’ single star is been the subject for gossip and speculation and now to ramp things up a little bit she does a little name-dropping.

She apparently Paged Angelina Jolie, and said she’s dreaming of her man, Brad Pitt.

It might not come as a very big surprise as many of the women in America and world over are similar to her in this regard.

According to her, the ideal eye Candy is “Brad Pitt in Fight Club; you can’t get much better than that. I still dream about his body!”

I guess jolie has nothing to worry about. I’m sure even Jennifer Aniston thought like this as well when Brad went off to make Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004.

LITTLE MASTER

In the twelve years that he has been in the public eye, Sachin Tendulkar has been explosive on the cricket field and just as reticent off it. He was barely fifteen years old when he first wrote his name into the record books with a stupendous 664-run partnership with his childhood friend Vinod Kambli. Two year later, he struck his first century in first-class cricket. At eighteen, he became the second youngest man to make a hundred in international cricket, and after that there was no looking back. Records tumbled by the wayside as he captivated audiences first in his home city of Mumbai, then in the rest of India and all over the cricket-playing world. Today, Sachin is widely accepted as the world's finest batsman, with impeccable technique, an incredible array of strokes, and maturity far beyond his years. His teammates and friends swear by him, his fans worship him and there are few, if any, critics of his game or his temperament.
